The aim of the development is to refresh the existing building with modern, best-practice building services while retaining as much of the existing fabric as possible, extending the life of the building considerably. The water-cooled chillers and gas boilers are replaced with roof-mounted air source heat pumps, the main switchgear and standby plant are renewed, and planting is introduced at roof terrace level. The foundations, steel frame, cores and most of the façades are retained.
